Staying at Hanakiya felt like a true home away from home. The warm messages from the hostess upon arrival brought a smile to my face each evening. She shared fantastic recommendations that led me to discover hidden gems in Kyoto, places I wouldn't have found on my own. The Japanese-Style Twin Room offered a simple yet cozy ambiance, and I appreciated the cleanliness throughout the accommodation. The additional touches, like surprise breakfast one morning, added a personal flair to my stay. Common areas were nice and provided a great spot to relax after a day of exploring. However, the sound insulation was a bit lacking. the traditional structure meant I could hear neighbors occasionally. Despite this, the peaceful neighborhood was a joy to return to after visiting nearby sights like Kiyomizu-dera. This place is unbeatable in value, and I truly hope to return next time I’m in Kyoto.

Not the best choice if you're not a fan of sharing a shower and bathroom!!! A closer bus stop would definitely improve the overall convenience!!! Also, those short doorways can be painful for taller guests like my husband!!!

The location is excellent. within walking distance of so many temples like Kiyomizu-dera. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond, storing my bags and even gifting me tickets for the evening Sakura light-up.
